girlfriends...

Life is a little sweeter when you have girlfriends to share it with.

I may not have one super close friend to share all of lives ups and downs.  I may not have that one go to friend that I call everyday to gossip.  I may not have a friend who I share vacations and holiday's with.  At times, this makes me a little sad; makes me wonder if I am missing out.  When I find myself dwelling on this, I try to remember what I have.

I have an amazing set of friends.  Ones that I know would be there for me if I needed their support.  Ones that would help me celebrate a milestone in my life.  I have many that I would love to spend a night hanging out with, a day shopping with; ones to share adventures or just discuss the normal day to day things that make up life.

I count my blessings each and every day for the girlfriends that I have in my life.  I feel blessed that they want to hang with me.  Tonight I had some great "girlfriend" time.  It was spur of the moment and one of the best evenings I have had in a long time.  My face still hurts from smiling so much.  Thanks S & S for making this day that much sweeter ~ the cake pop and hot chocolate were just the icing on the cake.

crash and burn; my date night...

Saturday night Randy and I finally had time to do a date night with some close friends.

First stop was dinner at the Copper Hog.   Randy and I arrived 30 mins early to enjoy some one on one chat time.  We ordered some drinks and hot wings.  The energy in this place was great.  The Sounders game was on and 75% of the people in the bar were dressed in team colors.  It was quite the experience to hear the cheers fill the space.

Dinner was yummy (i had the mac-n-cheese) and we were able to catch up with C & K.  By the time it was ready to leave Randy had a great buzz going on.  Next stop was The Upfront for some comedy.

My man had been up since 4 am and was a bit tired; the beer did not help this situation.  Not sure if Kara and I had more fun laughing at the comedy or at Randy falling asleep in his chair.  Towards the end of the second act, I was beginning to worry about him, he did not look well at all.

I am thankful we didn't have far to drive; as soon as I pulled into the garage, Randy's tummy was ready to empty; thankfully he made it to the side bushes and not in my car.  Poor guy.

I am happy to report he is much better and that C & K will go out with us again.  So nice to have great friends who will give us a second chance.

friends...

I am blessed to have some very amazing ladies that are my friends. I am thankful each and every day that they are part of my life.

Last night I was lucky enough to be spending some "girl time" with two of them. The evening did not turn out the way we thought it would. Looking back on the experience I am thankful that the three of us were together. I love you A and K, this will make our bond stronger and we now have a story to tell forever.

You two are amazing women. Thank you for getting old with me; we have many years to top last night!!!! (that is if A will still talk/hang with me).

halloween 2009...

This year we had a great time. The weather was perfect, the company was great. We headed to a friends house for some dinner and then the kids headed out to trick-or-treat the neighborhood. This was Griffin's 1st year doing a HUGE neighborhood and he was loving it.

The boys were out for a long time ~ hope Chris and Mary didn't mind me and Carson hanging out with them. I felt kind of bad but was having to good of a time to get in my car and look for my hubby and oldest child. It was great getting to know you guys. Looking forward to next year!

pumpkin time...

Our good friends, the Mitchell's, came over last night for homemade chili and pumpkin time. The kids had a blast running around while the parents ate and drank the night away. I can't remember the last time I felt that full!!!!!
We carved and painted pumpkins which is a bit of a tradition for us. I can't remember how many October's we have done this. I sure hope we have many, many more carving nights in our friendship. A HUGE thanks to Craig for being my Star Wars cliff notes; I was lost till you answered all my questions. Hope I was not to annoying.
There are more pictures posted on facebook; to be honest fb is so much easier to post pictures to!!!

road trip, the girl version...

This past weekend I headed to the end of the earth with some great ladies. During the weekend there was lots of conversations, pit stops, laughing so hard my side hurt, junk food, great drinks and funny stories.

I had no idea what to expect when we headed out of town on Saturday. Forks was a tiny town, but wonderful to see how such a small town has come together and embraced the twilight story. LaPush was amazingly beautiful. Words or pictures can not do this place justice. The 5 of us had a huge sigh of relief once we saw the cabin. We were a bit nervous on what we would be sleeping in, but it was perfect.
Some things I will never forget: our travel lady yelling at us, the 3 honks, hot wings at 10:00 pm and for breakfast, and Mary's "this is my first time".
Thank you my twilight gals for letting me experience this journey with you. Looking forward to next years adventure.

no dick tonight (sound gross, sorry)....

I headed out for drinks and a movie with two of my great friends at work. We met at Applebees and had some yummy liquid fun (Bahama mama anyone). We all got the double. I was very thankful that we were walking to the movies because I was d r u n k!

We were running a bit late. By the time we got to the movie theater the line was LONG. When we were finally able to purchase our tickets, the movie was sold out. We went to go see the new Richard Gere movie (get it, Dick is short for Richard). Who would of thought that movie would sell out. It was only 7:45 and I was in no shape to drive. So we headed over to Starbucks and talked about what we were like as kids and teens. Fun conversations ladies - thanks for the laughs.

because i love her....

Here is Kerri and I at Disneyland 3 years ago.

I have been thinking about my good friend Kerri all weekend.

She did the 3 day walk for cancer this weekend in San Diego. I am so proud of her. I so wished I could of joined her for the fun (and the pain). She is walking for her mom Pam who is a breast cancer survivor (you go Pam!!!!).

I saw some of Washington's walk on TV, it was an amazing site. I would love to feel it in person. Be there to witness the tears, the smiles. To be part of the change; to help raise money to find a cure for breast cancer.

I can't wait to talk to you Kerri, to hear what it was like. I am so proud that you did it.

re-connecting....

Friday I was finally able to hang out with one of my great friends Elizabeth. We have been trying to get together forever (it's been over a year - no joke). So happy we were able to make it happen.

Thanks E for the yummy sandwiches and the goodies that I left with. Once again you are kind and generous beyond words. Your a great friend and I can't wait to do this again.

Love this picture, the boys all wanted to sit next to Jackson

happy belated b'day Ms. Hannah......

Yes, I am the worst friend. One of my dearest (and the friend that I have had the longest) friends' daughter turned 10 on Saturday and I completely forgot. I am so sorry Kerri. I hope you guys had a great celebration. I can not believe Hannah is 10! Man, double digits; good luck.

Hope to talk soon! I still need to send you money for your cancer walk, don't let me forget.

recap of the 4th...

Where to begin? I have no idea.

This weekend was pretty amazing. For the past 5+ years the 4th has kind of sucked for me. Not sure why, but I have always been in the dumps on this day. Well, this year changed the cycle.

1st, it was not raining. That is a huge mood lifter. Griffin and I headed to Elizabeth Park for the annual bike parade. We had a great time decorating Griffin's scooter and walking the parade route. Afterwards, a great group of friends and I found a nice shady spot and enjoyed an awesome lunch. I couldn't of asked for a better group of people to spend the early afternoon with.
Griffin enjoying a cupcake.

Later that night we hosted a BBQ. My good friend Jen and her family came, the world famous Sara graced us with her presence and our neighbors rounded out the great 4th of July celebration squad. The food was great but the people were amazing. I had such a great time eating and laughing with these people. The kids played well and were running around like crazy.
Carson wanting to get into the action with the boys.

As the sun began to set, the boys (the big boys) got the fireworks out. Us ladies lasted about an hour then we headed inside to chat. I swear the men went another hour. Randy and Dale were having the time of their lives; Griffin and Aiden were all smiles as well. Carson didn't like them to much so he was in with the ladies - I don't blame him.
How cute!

I hope to make this group an annual tradition; they truly made my day special. Thanks all!

the baby is here....

My sweet, sweet friend Micah had her first baby yesterday at 5:01 pm.

I was so excited to hear her voice last night and so happy to hear her and sweet little Charlotte were doing well.

I am counting down the days till I can drive down and see them. If you are reading this Micah, congratulations and give Ms. Charlotte a big kiss from Auntie Rebecca.

sex and the city....

Some of my baby group friends and I headed out yesterday and saw this movie. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. I was never a huge follower of this show, I don't have HBO. I have seen most of the re-runs on TBS while on maternity leave with Carson. I fell in love with these four ladies and how they live their lives last fall/winter and I couldn't' wait to see it on the big screen. I won't give anything away but I did walk out feeling happy and satisfied with the story line.
Afterwards we all headed to Poppe's to enjoy some "cosmos" and talk for hours. I would recommend the Banana Hammock (drink only - not this real thing if you know what I mean), it was very, very yummy. It's amazing how much drink that place gives you, lots of bang for your buck. It was a wonderful evening spend with some amazing ladies laughing over great food and yummy drinks. Can't wait till we can do it again.

road trip pictures...

Didn't take a bunch, here are a few:

random monday post...

Not much to report. Where the heck did the sun go? I thought it would be nice today so I dressed in a very spring outfit and left without a jacket. By the time work was over and I left for the day, it was raining. Oh well.

Last Friday the weather was perfect, much to nice to stay inside all day. The boys and I headed to Hovander to have a picnic with some friends. I love this shot! Nothing better than two boys hanging out on a bench after a long afternoon playing in the dirt.

the list...

My great friend Jen had her summer "to do" list posted on her blog the other day (check it out, link is on the side). What a great idea. I am a true believer that if you write it down your more likely to get something done. I am in the process of writing down what I want to accomplish this summer (if it ever gets here). I would love to hear what others have on their "list", please let me know.

I will post the list as soon as I can get it done. Can i put that on the list - find time to do the list?

Here's to summer!

it's ladies night...

I went through my pictures and it seems most of them are of the bottles we drank or drunk people, scary what you take when you have a bit of alcohol in you.
This past weekend I spent Saturday night with some of the best friends I have. Our baby group had an overnight girls night; needless to say, it was so much fun.
Most of the group has been together for over 5 years. We have seen our kids grow from little wiggle worms to energetic kids. We have shared many, many laughs and a few tears along the way. I hope that we can stay close for the next 18+ years and make this into a annual get away. Heather's in-laws let us have the run of their "summer cottage" (I use this term loosely, the cottage is bigger than my house), what a great gift they gave all of us.
It was the perfect weekend. Food, drink, great friends, wonderful stories, more food, a bit of scrapbooking, food, a good nights sleep, some laughs and food. I wanted to take a group shot before we all left on Sunday, but E and L thought it was a bad idea, thanks guys.
I am truly blessed to have as many wonderful friends that I do. Thanks for putting up with me (questions and all).

buddies....

I love to see the friendship my kids' build with others. Amelia and Carson have quite a bond. It's fun to see them look at each other and play. Most of the time they are trying to eat each other's toes or Cheerios. So sweet.

Griffin and Aidan can play for hours on end. We (the boys and I) are blessed to have wonderful friends. Thanks to all for playing such huge parts on our lives, we love you all.
