Randy and I decided to sneak away for a few hours of playtime today. I am so grateful for him.

i did marry the best man for me....

Randy just sent me a text that made my heart warm.

When little things like this happen, it puts a smile on my face, a bounce in my step and proves he is the perfect mate for me.

I discovered some extra cash that we didn't know we had; when I texted him to tell him about it (yep, sad I know, but texting is a big part of our communication during the working day), his response was:

"Sweet; I want you to use it for something the makes you happy!!!!!"

I don't know what I did in a past life to deserve him, but I am so thankful.

12 years...

Today is mine and Randy's 12th wedding anniversary.

I am thankful that we have had 12 years of love and happiness.  Thankful that he puts up with my bs.  Thankful that I get to spend the rest of my life with this amazing man - he is a perfect fit for me.

Thank you Randy for putting me first, loving our boys beyond words, and letting me be me.  Your love and support has let me follow my dreams and I will be forever in your debt because of it.

Love you!!!!!

road trip....

I LOVE road trips. Randy and I have taken several in our years together and we always end up having a blast.

I am itching to do another one without the kids. Now I just have to nail down a date that both Randy and I have open BEFORE my parents leave to head back south (they have yet to come up here due to my dad's broken arm - hurry up and heal dad).

Wish me luck.

11 years...

Eleven years ago at this time I was getting ready to walk down the isle. I was not nervous (those went away the moment I saw Randy arrive - he really was going to marry me!); I was filled with joy and anticipation. I had imagined my wedding days for years and could not believe it was time to finally become Mrs. Brethauer.
11 years later and I think I love him more today than in 1998. I remember the day I saw Randy for the first time ~ it changed my life forever. I remember the moment I knew I was going to marry him (I was sitting in math class). I do not remember not loving him. I have no words to describe the emotions that I feel for this man. He truly saved me and helped me become who I am today.
I thank God almost daily for him. I thank God that we found each other so many years ago. I thank God that we grew together in stead of a part as we grew up. I have no idea where life will take us so I will just sit back and enjoy the ride as long as we are together.

a slice of heaven...

We made it to our final destination - The Willows Lodge. I must say I am very impressed. This place is amazing. We were welcomed by "happy anniversary" from the front desk guy who checked us in. He gave me a small box of chocolates and a hand written card. Now that is how I spell service.

The hall ways are even impressive. This is one of the most beautiful places Randy and I have ever been to. We walked around the grounds and found the hot tub - no pool but thats ok.

I just called home and feel a bit of guilt from being away from the boys. Carson wants me home now!!!! I know mom and dad will do great, but the mommy part of me worries a bit.

Looking forward to sleeping in and getting room service (one of my guilty pleasures). It may cost 10% more but I am worth it.

our little adventure...

Yesterday the boys and I headed out to pick up a part of Randy's anniversary present. I sure hope G does not tell daddy, I really want it to be a surprise.

I can't post what it is just in case my love reads this. I will post pictures on Oct 17th; our #10.

how can you tell your old...

When you fall asleep on the couch on a Saturday night at 8:00; wake up at 9:00 go straight for bed and sleep for 10 hrs straight.

Man, when did Randy and I get so old??? At least we are well rested.

perfect sunday...

Randy and I had a date in the middle of the day. It was wonderful, amazing, perfect. What a treat to go out in the day, just the two of us. We headed to the mall to get me some new glasses, than lunch at Red Robin.

Made me feel almost like a teenager.

a blast from the past.....

Look at these crazy kids!

I have no idea what year this was taken, but I think we were still in high school (so that makes it the early 90's). Randy's grandma ran across this picture the other day while she was cleaning out a drawer.

Man, I look at how young we are and we had no idea what our lives would be like together. So happy we have this kind of history together.

I feel very blessed to have met Randy at such a young age. I sometimes wonder what life would be like if we met later on down the road. But looking at this picture, and then looking at us today, I would not change a thing about our past. He has molded me into the person I am today, and I hope I have had some influence on building his character.
