death to bobs...

Mothers Day started out on a bit of a sour note but turned around to be very, very sweet.
The plan was to have brunch at my place, but at the last minute we decided to go out for b'fast. It's about impossible to find a place that still has open spots for mothers day. After several calls I found an opening at Bob's downtown. The hostess told me they severed b'fast till 11:00; took my name and number and told me they would see us on Sunday -perfect.
At 10:15 we arrive at Bob's. There is a large group standing by the door and the lady looks a bit mad. I finally noticed why - Bob's was closed till 11:00!!!
I called Bob's in Sudden Valley hoping they would feel sorry for us, but no luck (or should I say no room in the inn for you!). I am getting a bit pissed. My brother takes us over to Starbucks and buys a round of coffee. I ph0ne several other places but everyone is booked solid. Great, mothers day with 10 people and we will be eating at Starbucks.
I phone the downtown Bob's and someone answers. I tell her my story and she tells me "sorry, we are not open for breakfast today, you can come in at 11:00 for lunch". I ask her why they are closed, "because the other Bob's are serving brunch, we do not so we closed". How could I make a reservation than??? Oh, that was a new girl, she did not know. Why didn't someone call me? Maybe because your restaurant is run by idiots!!!!! I ask her if the cook can make us pancakes - no. Why the hell not - we just have a prep cook, the regular cook is not in. Ok, can we get a discount if we come in due to your major screw up??? I'm not authorized to do that. Can I talk to a manager; none are there (of course not). Can I speak to the next person in charge.
A nice lady gets on, I tell my story and she is not very apologetic. I ask her if we can get pancakes - NO. Can I get some sort of discount - we can give you 1/2 off one burger. Can you say go F yourself????
I got the name and number of the owner - I have yet to talk to him, when I have called he can't come to the phone (big surprise). All I was looking for was a sincere apology and for someone to try to make it right. What I got was a big "sucks to be you" attitude.
Anyway, I called IHOP and they were able to get us in ASAP. We all headed over there and enjoyed one of the best breakfasts around. It was a combination of the food and the people I was around. I love having my brother as part of the family again. He is happy, fun to be around and makes me smile like no one else can.
It was one of the best mother's day I have ever had. I will NEVER go to bobs downtown and I hope you don't either.
