Yesterday was a bit crazy.
The boys had haircuts scheduled at 4:15. After walking Griffin home from school, we hopped in the car and head down to Glenda's. The boys did amazing. Carson didn't even cry! On our way home someone decided that it would be a good idea to not pay attention while he was driving his car. As I sit at a red light on Lakeway I hear a loud thud at the back of my car - WTF!!!! Than it dawns on me, I have just been hit.
As calm as I can be, I step out of my car; the young boy who is driving has the sense to apologize as I am walking back towards him. I give him the evil eye and I tell him to meet me in Fred Myers parking lot.
My kids and I are fine. My car didn't even move. I phoned Randy and asked him what I should do (I was an accident virgin), he was on his way. Ah, my knight in shinning armor. The boy jumps out and is so upset that he hit me, once he finds out I have kids he almost starts to cry. He was very nice and asked over and over again "Are you guys ok".
I amazed my self with being calm. I got all his information (it was his step mothers car, he has no insurance, he's 18, just got his license). I phoned the insurance agent and the police. Randy comes, looks over my car and talks to the boys and his two friends.
I might add that as far as we can see my car has NO DAMAGE, his car is a different story. I thank God for watching over us and I give him a lecture on getting insurance, than drive off in to the sunset.
Wow, I know life can change in a second, but when something happens it heightens your awareness a bit more.

OMG glad to hear your all okay!
Glad that everyone was okay!
Phew, I think that's why we have shock wired in us. So that when our lives (more importantly our children's lives) are jeopardized, we can still hold it together to take care of business.
I've been in a couple of dingers, and the last time I got hit good the gal never once showed concern for my children, let alone apologize for smashing my car! I feel bad for the kid too, but it was probably a lesson that he learned and won't have to learn it again!
Glad you are all ok but have Randy check the frame of the car - you might be surprised. I really did a number on the TBird, backing into the garage! Not one of my better days, for sure! Only wish the garage looked as good as the car but I really "re-arranged" the car frame.
Hopefully, the young driver learned something from it.
When I read this, my heart actually stopped beating. Thank God you and the boys are okay. I'm glad that kid followed you to Fred Meyer, he could have kept going. We need to change our law about carrying insurance. The Canadians have it right, you buy your car insurance when you renew your car tabs.
Love, Mom
