The last few days I have not recognized Griffin. He has turned into a boy that is not welcome in my home. He whines, mopes around; it takes an act of congress to get him to enjoy a family activity, he is acting like a teenage girl!
Today I had it. I sat him down and calmly talked to him. Asked what was going on; why he was acting like this. He didn't say much. I felt good; happy that I did not resort to yelling, happy that I treated him like an important part of this family. Happy that I talked and tried to listen (if he would say something). We headed out on our walk. The mood came back. I lost it. Finally I left him standing in the drive way. Half way to the park the old Griffin returned. Man, I hope he stays.
I think a huge part of Griffin's transformation has been school, there is none. He is out for the summer (again, I believe in year round school, that would solve this problem). I think he is having a hard time with transition. I will try to remember this and plan around it.
I set up a play date and headed to the mall (the play date was at the mall; I had to go so why not kill two birds with one stone). So glad he had the chance to let some steam off. I had to run into a few stores while I was there. As we were walking to Macys' (I still call it the Bon), I saw a new store had opened. I took Griffin in. My fingers were crossed he would be ok. He surprised the heck out of me. I even was able to try about 7 pairs of pants and he was an angel. Boy, he can surprise me at times. I sure hope the old G-man comes back soon, If not, it's going to be a long summer.
Isn't this stuff fun? It was the tags that were on my new jeans. I love fun packaging!
