I just got done reading the front cover of our local newspaper and I was shocked. A few weeks ago a woman was running on a local trail and someone came up behind her, put a bag over her head, beat her, threw her in a car, raped her and dumped her along the road.
When I read the original story it really freaked me out. I have stopped walking with the kids due to the fact that they have not arrested the men who did this horrible crime. Well, turns out she made the whole thing up!!!!!
This women has a few mental issues; the paper stated that she still believes she was raped even though the rape kit came back negative, the wounds she has were self inflicted, the crime dogs were only able to find her sent from her house to the place she was "dumped" - they never found her sent on the trial. Only her DNA was on the bag and zip tie. And there where no drag marks, no dump marks, nothing on the dirt of the scene.
I hope she gets the help she needs. I hope this does not deter real victims from coming forward and getting help. I hope the police will take real rapes as real and not made up.
I can now walk in my neighborhood and not feel afraid.
