Each year I pick out a few angels from the Salvation Army's angel tree (ok, I usually go over board and come home with 10+ tags).
This year I kept it to two. I always pick out the ages of my children. In the lobby of my building there is always a tree. As soon as it goes up I look it over and see what jumps out at me. This year it was:
4 year old, wants a red hooded sweatshirt
1 year old, wants a riding toy
I picked up the tags and headed for the elevator. Once in side I began to cry. It breaks my heart to realize not everyone out there is as lucky as we are. I couldn't imagine not being able to provide presents for my kids (in reality, we are all just a crisis away from this happening). I am blessed to be able to help out. It's not much, but if I can bring one smile to a face of a child this season, it pays me back 100 times.
I even rubbed off on Mr. Randy. He was at the gym the other day and told me he was looking over the angels, looking for one. Hope I can teach my kids that same thing.
Now I just have to stock up on baby food and take a huge load to the food bank. I try to get at least one load down there around this time of year. Hungry babies makes my soul ache.

thanks for the reminder that this is the season for gooodwill towards others. I'm guilty of getting caught up in all the "to do's" this year and hadn't thought about what I "can do" for others.
